    If Vanessa and Anna, the owners, had their way, there would be no seats in their restaurant, just a bar, and a sawdust-covered floor, where delicious small plates are casually served alongside fino and wine. Their Irish customers wanted sit-down dining, so they complied. The welcome is as large as the manu. They serve all the best tapas without the step count that would be clocked up to eat like this on a tapas strip in Spain.

He came home to Dublin to continue his training under the direction of John Howard in Le Coq Hardi for four years. He then spent 8 years as Head Chef in le Bon Appetit Restaurant where his aspirations were always to open a place of his own.Derry and Sallyanne married in 1987 and opened l’Ecrivain Restaurant in July 1989. They have had several transformations and now l’Ecrivain stands on the site of two old Georgian Coach Houses/Mews in its own charming courtyard.

    Damien Grey's follow-up to the hugely successful Heron & Grey has already surpassed the original, with a tasting menu consisting of his most spellbinding dishes from the past few years and a newly revamped room that feels more like Scandinavia than south Co Dublin. All eyes will be on the Michelin awards this autumn to see if he regains his star, but that already seems like a done deal.

    At L. Mulligan. Grocer, we believe Irish produce is special and worth celebrating. We are particularly keen on whiskey, beer, food and gin and love sharing our old favourites and new discoveries with people.

    Our whiskey, beer and food menus are seasonal and change regularly. Each of our main courses are matched with a beer or cider and our desserts are matched with a whiskey.

    Our monthly charity quiz is held the last Sunday of each month and covers all manner of esoteric subjects: collective nouns, Eurovision, Greek mythology and 1980s cartoon supervillians.

    We run regular tasting events in the pub which we publicise via twitter, carrier owl and our mailing list. Our sister companyTasting Ireland can also offer tailored tastings if your curiosity is piqued.

    Seaneen Sullivan and her business partners saw the beauty of putting great Irish ingredients into the beauty of putting great Irish ingredients into a typical pub setting so the food hugs could be as warm as the boozy ones. No laurels are being rested on here, and a halo of great food has eddied out from the foundation stone that is Mulligans, turning Stoneybatter into a terrific little food village.

    Loam is a Michelin-starred restaurant and wine bar located just off Eyre Square in Galway city. It first opened its doors in November 2014 and is owned and run by Head Chef Enda McEvoy – voted ‘Best Chef in Ireland‘ at the 2016 Irish Restaurant Awards.

    At Loam – meaning ‘rich, fertile soil’ – we focus on modern ambitious cooking rooted in tradition. Seasonally driven, we work very closely with local farmers and producers, many of whom are close friends, to get the products we need to reflect and capture the feeling and magic of the west of Ireland.
