Abstract

This case study examines the development and implementation of a self-guided, museum style site visit project for built environment students, created in response to the logistical and pedagogical limitations exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Drawing on principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), the project Museum of the City integrates narrative-based microlectures, multimodal media, and optional reflective activities to support student engagement and accessibility. Over four years of integration into a final-year planning module, the approach has demonstrated sustained student participation, adaptability across delivery modes, and pedagogical value in contextualizing theoretical content. This case study outlines the rationale, design process, implementation outcomes, and reflective analysis of the project, offering a model for inclusive, place-based learning in hybrid education contexts.
