Abstract
I deliver a face-to-face Bioinformatics module to third-year TU866 students. This module includes online, open-book, summative quizzes following each workshop. On one occasion a student was unable to attend a workshop and quiz session due to testing positive for COVID-19. Although the student was asymptomatic, she chose to avoid potentially spreading the virus to her peers. In response, I promptly adapted the workshop and assessment to a hyflex delivery format. The student participated online with her camera on via Bongo. The student attended the workshop and completed the quiz online, in parallel with their classmates. The quiz, being open-book but invigilated, was well-suited for hyflex delivery. The student was able to ask questions online regarding both the workshop and the quiz, and they benefited from the questions raised by their peers attending in person.
