Abstract
I am one of two Assistive Technology Officers in TU Dublin. We meet students with a wide range of difficulties and challenges. Our students have many difficulties, such as Autism, ADHD, Visual impairments, hard of hearing, specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyspraxia, Physical disabilities, mental health issues to mention a few. As an Assistive Technology Officer, we help these students use and learn about technology to demonstrate how we can help level the playing field for the students. We meet students on a one-to-one basis to do this. However, we also develop resources like presentations and short videos to demonstrate usage and tasks to help students. We introduce the students to the benefits of technology by demonstration and making resources available to download.
