Abstract
The MSc Event Management is a conversion MSc programme and so students may have very little knowledge or experience of the event sector when they first join the programme. For this, and for several other reasons, experiential learning is prioritised in this module. When we experienced the Covid 19 pandemic, activities like site visits, fieldtrips and guest lectures were severely curtailed or eliminated and we needed to find alternative ways of encouraging student-practitioner interactions. We thus changed our assessment practice to include a requirement for students to individually secure an interview with a practitioner on a particular topic, and to produce a podcast based on the interview. This change in assessment practice was initiated as a way of ensuring that each individual student had some form of direct engagement with practitioners.
