Abstract
On the 11th of March 2020, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the COVID-19 outbreak as a global pandemic. The way companies operated had to change and many people are now encouraged to work from home. Companies have had to adapt many of their work practices and in some cases adopt new ways conducting activities such conducting and hosting of audits. The paper seeks to investigate the challenges and potential benefits with conducting remote audits. An industry-based survey was conducted to identify the challenges with conducting remote audits from the pharmaceutical industry’s perspective. To overcome some of the challenges identified an action plan is proposed to facilitate companies in preparing for remote audits, as it appears this “new normal” may be something that we all have to adapt to in the future.
