About This Journal

The Irish Communications Review (ICR) has been published by Dublin Institute of Technology and TU Dublin since 1991. ICR is Ireland’s only peer-reviewed academic journal for research, analysis and discussion of all matters relating to media communications. The journal’s scope encompasses all media platforms including broadcasting, film, the internet, journalism, public relations, advertising, media education and media technologies. Studying the media within their cultural, economic, political and historical contexts, ICR seeks to encourage the exchange of ideas and experiences, and to present information on new developments relevant to the field. ICR is a member of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the comprehensive and well-renowned open-access directory.

Irish Communications Review welcomes articles on all aspects of the media in Ireland or with relevance to Ireland from academic researchers and media practitioners. Articles may comprise research reports and analyses from diverse theoretical and methodological approaches in all fields as well as reviews, review essays and shorter research notes and commentaries. Proposals for special theme issues are also welcome. Occasional invited submissions are also published by the Journal.

Contributors are invited to submit brief proposals before submitting completed articles to ensure they fit the aims and scope of the Journal. Contributions must not have been published elsewhere. Where there are multiple authors, a statement confirming that all have agreed to the submission should be included. It is editorial policy that manuscripts are sent to two anonymous peer reviewers. Our aim is to make a decision on each manuscript within 3 months. All contributions should be submitted using the online submission form. Additional queries should be addressed to icr@dit.ie
