Research Living Lab

Research Living Lab for Transformative Pedagogies and Proactive Learning to Support Sustainable Development

The Research Living Lab is guided by TU Dublin strategic goal aiming to create a better world with the collaboration of Strategic Partnerships that help us contribute to educational change where we foster individual talents to align with the University vision in alignment with the United Nations Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Research Living Lab is supported by the following elements:

1. People: our students and academics will work together to ensure that we contribute to the development of an educational model that fosters individual talents within a complex socio-economic environment that demands transformation.

2. Partnership: our colleagues from international organisations and institutions around the world are the foundation of our work. Strategic partnerships are helping us to develop a strong network of academics passionate about Education and aiming to break barriers between students, researchers, and teachers.

3. Planet: our research activities consider the Planet as part of our foundational working framework to enable the development of teaching, learning and research practices that challenge the current status quo and reconsider the importance of Economics Education for Sustainability and Inclusive Growth and Development. .

Our research team aligns with TU Dublin Strategic Intent 2030, aiming to position the University as a leader and voice for Sustainability, where Education is the driving force. We are creating the foundations of Research Living Lab for Transformative Pedagogies and Proactive Learning to Support Sustainable Development, aiming to bring together academics, researchers and students on their understanding of The United Nations 2030 Agenda and the SDGs through the lenses of Education and its significance to foster Economic Development and more inclusive societies. Students emerge as critical voices and players to drive change and impact, and the Living Lab integrates them as active members that co-create and share knowledge. We acknowledge that we already have robust and solid approaches to active learning in the educational field, however, they are not enough and additional insights are needed. In this space, we will empower the importance of promoting a proactive attitude towards learning. A proactive learning environment will enable us to identify potential side effects of different actions and interventions to ensure that we can minimise and prevent potential negative consequences of our current understanding of sustainable societies..
