The Lime Tree is recognised as Kenmare’s landmark restaurant. Housed in a beautiful building dating back to 1832, the food and service continues to win accolades and many new customers. The quality ingredients are sourced locally and then carefully prepared with passion. Fish from the cleanest waters in Europe is delivered daily and lamb is provided by the local farmer. Simple caring preparation ensures tasty food. The service is friendly and efficient with an emphasis on value for money in an informal manner.
Michael Casey, Chef Patron, born and reared in the heart of The Black Valley near the Gap of Dunloe has honed his cooking skills in some of the best establishments in Ireland, England and Holland. He was Head Chef in The Lime Tree with Tony Daly and worked with Francis Brennan of Park and At Your Service TV fame. Michael’s wife Gillian is also an accomplished Chef and a great support to him. He has now taken over his favourite restaurant and brings back to Kenmare his flair and culinary skills. Michael says “The local produce in this area is among the best in the world. Billy Clifford’s organic herbs, Roger O Sullivan’s Beef and Lamb and Freshest Fish from Union Hall and Castletownbere. My aim is to cook using the best local and regional ingredients and provide dishes that offer tasty flavours and excellent value in a casual warm lively atmosphere” Michael also featured on Operation Transformation TV show where he became the first Irish person to reverse Type II diabetes by diet alone.
Voted number 8 in Tripadviser's Ireland's Top 10 Restaurants, 2017.
