Abstract

This paper addresses the issue of gender equality in science, research, and innovation in the context of the European Union's Equality Strategies and Research and Innovation Framework Programs. The study aims to provide predictions for the future in this area through the analysis of priorities and actions outlined in the European Union’s gender equality strategies and research and innovation framework programs to promote gender equality in the field of research. Document review and analysis methods were used as research methods. The analysis of the documents shows that the European Union priorities in the area of gender inequality in research are ‘gender balance in leadership and decision-making, combating stereotypes, removing obstacles to women’s participation in science and research and career advancement, promoting gender equality and equal opportunities in research and innovation, and integrating the gender dimension into all areas of research.’ To monitor and support developments in these areas, measures such as ‘setting targets, collecting and monitoring data, mainstreaming gender equality into all policies and programs, and supporting targets with funds’ were envisaged.
