Abstract

Hi folks. My name is Aoife Carrigy and I’m a freelance food, wine and travel writer based in Dublin, Ireland.

Having spent many happy years working front-of-house in restaurants – combined with dallies in book publishing, stints of teaching English and journalism, posts as restaurant reviewer for various free-sheets, and adventures in travel including a job as a cook on a 4WD tour of Australia’s north-west outback – I was lucky enough to work full-time as Deputy Editor of Ireland’s FOOD&WINE Magazine for five years. During that time I came into contact with some amazing artisan food producers, restaurateurs, chefs, front-of-house people, deli and cafe owners, market stallholders, wine suppliers and stockists, farmers, butchers, bakers, cookery school teachers, hoteliers, B&B and guesthouse owners and many others doing great work around the country.

I choose to return to freelance life in September 2010 and established this site as a way for me to continue to let people know about some of the exciting stuff happening around the country. Of course that depends on people letting me know what they’re doing. If you work with food, wine or tourism in some way within the 32 counties of this island (or even beyond) I’d love to hear from you. You can also read my weekly wine column in the Irish Mail on Sunday and my food writing elsewhere, including The Ard Bia Cookbook which I co-wrote with restaurateur Aoibheann MacNamara.
