Abstract
This guide provides practical support for TU Dublin programme teams in integrating free electives as part of flexible, learner-centred curriculum design. Free electives enable learners to select modules from across the University, fostering interdisciplinary engagement, learner agency, and the development of Graduate Attributes in line with the University Education Model (UEM), particularly Fundamental 4: Pathways Through. The document outlines how to reference free electives in validation and review materials, incorporate aligned programme-level learning outcomes, and apply appropriate implementation models within current operational constraints. The guide aims to support consistent, coherent, and future-focused programme design as TU Dublin advances its transition toward a more connected and flexible curriculum landscape.
