The LVA (Licensed Vintners Association) presented their annual education awards at a special ceremony held in the DIT (Dublin Institute of Technology) Bar Management Training Bar,Cathal Brugha Streetrecently. These awards are presented to the successful candidates of the LVA Bar Supervision and LVA Bar Management courses which are run at the DIT Department of Bar Management. These courses are designed for those interested in a career in the licensed industry at management or operational levels or for those who may wish to formalize and up-date their knowledge in professional bartending and bar management. Bartenders and bar managers are imparted with the correct skills, attitude and customer care knowledge plus the ability to carry out their duties in thoughtful, appropriate and efficient ways. The subjects covered include customer service skills, draught dispense management, cocktail making, responsible service of alcohol, product knowledge, legislation (HACCP, Fire Safety, License Laws), financial control, management and services marketing.
The awards and diplomas were presented by Mr. Enda Keogh (Chairman – Licensed Vintners Association) who congratulated all the successful candidates reminding them of the important and responsible position they hold as the significant link between the consumer and the bar business going forward. Congratulations were also offered by Mr. James Murphy (DIT Lecturer & LVA Programme co-ordinator) who acknowledged the significant achievement of these successful candidates in their professional development and career aspirations. The DIT Bar Management area offers an extensive range of short part-time courses, these courses enjoy the full support of the Licensed Vintners Association, Vintners Federation of Ireland, Irish Hotel Federation and the other major trade organisations based here in Ireland.
