Abstract
Discussion boards in Brightspace afford users the opportunity to engage in meaningful virtual communication. The implementation of discussion boards facilitates access to an online platform that allows students to think, discuss and critically evaluate their discipline. Not only does it enhance digital literacy skills, but it also aids in the development of critical analysis skills, writing skills and reflective thinking skills. This technology links well with the TU Dublin graduate attributes to encourage students to become digitally capable lifelong learners. The EU policy entitled the Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027 emphasises the need for digitally competent and flexible graduates that can adapt to the ever-changing digital landscape. Equipping our students with the appropriate digital skills ensures that they are competitive on the global stage.
