Niamh Brennan has been a constant champion of the Open Access movement in Ireland and was one of the early adopters of the Institutional Repository. Niamh will provide some signposts to what the future will bring in this area.

Teaching interests and responsibilities include: * Medicines Information Retrieval (MIR) Project: joint Library/Pharmacology eLearning Project funded by TCD Centre for Learning Technology. Role: content creator and lecturer. * Information Literacy SIF 1 Project: Role: content creator & lecturer on Intellectual Property and Copyright (module 6: Ethics) and Research Communication and Dissemination (module 7: Publishing & Dissemination). * User Education TCD: all levels, specialist embedded courses for Engineering students as part of TCD Broad Curriculum * LAI Cataloguing & Indexing Group: Presentation on Metadata and Open Access repositories * TCD Digital Image Project (DIP) : Workshop training for researchers, post doctoral researchers and postgraduate students in metadata creation (using VRA Core and Dublin Core, including controlled vocabularies and thesauri) * Journal of the Statistical & Social Inquiry Society of Ireland Digitisation and ePublishing Project: training for researchers, post doctoral researchers and postgraduate students in metadata creation (using qualified Dublin Core templates, including JEL Classification) * TCD Electronic Legal Deposit Pilot Project: start-up training in Dspace workflows and metadata for TCD cataloguing staff * UCD School of Information & Library Studies: Cataloguing Module design of course delivering the theoretical and practical foundations of cataloguing. Course included a series of practical workshops as well as analysis of issues associated with bibliographic control and information retrieval through coursework and a final examination.
